Berytinus clavipes
Family: Berytidae

Berytinus species are characterised by the short 2nd antennal segment (less than the length of the club on the 1st segment) and by the short hind femora, which do not reach the apex of the corium.

In B. clavipes the club of the 1st antennal segment is  brown and much paler than the 4th segment. The wing membrane lacks brown markings and the front of the head is very pointed (twice as long as wide). The 3rd antennal segment is longer than the pronotum.

A local stiltbug
found mainly in the south-east, usually in sandy or chalk habitats, feeding on rest-harrow. Adults overwinter, mating early in the spring; the new generation is complete from July onwards.

Length 6.5-8.5 mm
