Dicyphus
escalerae Family: Miridae Members of this genus can be difficult to identify using structural features, but general coloration and hostplant are often informative. This species is found exclusively on Antrirhinum, often in gardens or ruderal situations on brownfield sites. The upper surface has a rather black and white appearance and the markings on the cuneus are distinctive (largely pale with a sarply demarcated black tip). The forewings are covered in coarse, erect hairs which arise from black spots. Specific structural characters: - Length of 3rd antennal segment ≥ head width across eyes - Hind tibiae rather short Adult: mainly June-October Length 4.0 mm |
