Orthotylus
flavosparsus
Family: Miridae
Orthotylus
is a large genus of predominantly green bugs. Many are
extremely similar and species identification based on external features is
often difficult. The hostplant can be very informative.
O. flavosparsus is
one of the more easily recognised species and is found on chenopods
such as fat-hen and oraches. The green membrane cells and the patches of silvery hairs on
the upperside are distinctive.
A common species throughout much of Britain.
Adult: June-September
