Lasiacantha capucina Thyme Lacebug
Family: Tingidae

This species has three frontal process, as does Tingis, but most of the head is covered by the hood of the pronotum. The dorsal surface is covered with long, hooked hairs and the lateral margins of the pronotum and forewings bear spines (compare Tingis reticulata).

An extremely rare species in Britain, which for many years was known only from The Lizard, Cornwall. In 2005 it was discovered on Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire and could conceivably be overlooked at other sites in Wales.

Adults and nymphs feed on Wild Thyme Thymus polytrichus growing in cliff-top grassland.
