striifrons Family: Cicadellidae One of many superficially similar yellow-brown deltocephaline leafhoppers, this species is recognisable from a combination of features. There are short dark streaks that nearly meet at the tip of the vertex, but the dark area of the face has a longitudinal pale streak (unlike the closely related A. pascuellus). The forewing cells are usually uniformly yellow-green. This is a local species on grasses, often in damp locations. It is traditionally regarded as predominantly southern, but may have spread northwards in recent decades. Adult: July to October Length 3-4 mm |
