| Cicadula
aurantipes Family: Cicadellidae Cicadula is a difficult genus to identify, and microscopic features must be used to separate some species. In this case, several other species have the same markings (the four spots on the head, and usually in males, dark marks at the base of the scutellum), but C. aurantipes can be distinguished by its larger size. Specimens from the small end of the size range may not be identifiable. There are sometimes darker streaks in the forewing cells. The host plants are sedges, in marshy areas, and usually at pond margins; it is locally distributed in Great Britain. Adult: July to October Length 4.5-6.0 mm |
