Rhyparochromus pini
Family: Lygaeidae

A large, elongate and long-legged ground bug which has a dark wing membrane. Requires careful separation from the recent arrival R. vulgaris.

Although found widely in southern England and south/mid Wales, this is a scarce bug with a scattered distribution. In the south-east it is mainly found on heathland, often
under heather or in leaf litter. Further west, it is mainly coastal and associated with sand dunes. It is likely to have a variety of foodplants.

Adults overwinter, mating in the spring. The new generation is complete from late July onwards.
