Zygimus nigriceps Family: Miridae A very distinctive and scarce bug with a striking black head and pronotum and leaf-green forewings. Unlike in the superficially similar Orthotylus virens, the membrane is brownish with yellow veins. A rare species confined to northern juniper scrub, although it has previously been considered to use Scots Pine as a host. There are a scattering of records from northern England and Scotland; elsewhere it occurs in Scandinavia, but never commonly. Adult: June-September Length ~4 mm |
