Salda littoralis
Family: Saldidae

This small genus comprises 3 relatively large, black shorebugs which have almost non-overlapping forewings. Care must be taken to separate the species.

S. littoralis
is distinguished from the other two species by the dense golden pubescence on the forewings.

Found in he vegetated silty margins of rivers and lakes; also in brackish habitats. Widespread in northern Britain but mainly coastal in the south.

Length 5.0-7.0 mm
