Saldula c-album
Family: Saldidae
This
genus comprises 11 rather oval saldids which have an entirely dark
pronotum and forewings which completely overlap. There are several
very similar species which are
often difficult to identify.
S. c-album is relatively
easy to identify, with strongly convex forewings and distinctive
yellowish C-shaped markings half way along the outer edge of corium.
The forewings are generally quite strongly marked and the pronotal
margins rather straight.
Usally associated with river shingle and stony or sandy margins of streams and lakes. Local throughout much of Britain.
